Salsa is one of the most popular dances in Miami that originated in New York with strong influences from Latin America, particularly Cuba and Puerto Rico. Characteristics that may identify a style include: timing, basic steps, foot patterns, body rolls and movements, turns and figures, attitude, dance influences and the way that partners hold each other. Salsa is performed to the music similar to Mambo but faster with the accent on the first beat instead of the second beat of the measure. Salsa is most common in Miami clubs.
